New Advanced Filter Media 

K+Media, developed and manufactured in the UK by Evolution Aqua, is an advanced filtration media designed for biological pond filters, particularly in moving bed bio reactors. Unlike traditional plastic media, K+Media not only offers a class-leading surface area (1,350m² per m³ total, 1,025m² per m³ protected) but also overcomes the challenge of long maturation times. During extrusion, minerals, enzymes, calcium, magnesium, and salt are added, creating a textured surface that accelerates biofilm development and enhances filtration efficiency. Its unique shape provides “quiet zones” where beneficial bacteria and microscopic organisms thrive, ensuring superior biological and mechanical filtration.

Filter Media 

You can increase the biological capacity of your Nexus+ by adding additional K+ Media into the outer chamber. However you will need to ensure that you have the correct size of air pump to enable the K+ Media to move sufficiently.

Evolution Aqua also recommend using K+Media in combination with the PURE Pond and PURE+ Filter Start Gel to boost bacteria levels which in turn will stick to the media and speed up the maturation process even more.
