Create a safer environment for your fish

The Evolution Aqua Detox Dechlorinator is a quick and simple method of filtering out harmful chlorine and other impurities from tap water. Sometimes referred to as a water conditioner, the chlorine removing dechlorinator is ideal for use when first filling up, carrying out water changes and keeping a top-up trickle feed for both ponds and aquariums. There’s no need to wait for chlorine to “gas-off” or to use liquid water treatments.

Simply fill up straight from the hosepipe via the Evolution Aqua Detox Dechlorinator. This unit simply connects to garden hose or rigid pipe work.

Connectors are included.

Hi-grade activated carbon removes chlorine, chloramine, bromine, malachite green, dyes, colours, humic acids, organics, proteins, antibiotics, hormones and ozone.

Detox Dechlorinator FAQs
How should a Detox Dechlorinator be installed?
The ideal is to install it vertically. This way it ensures that all water is evenly distributed. The units can be installed horizontally, but vertical mounting is best.
Are Detox Dechlorinators ice proof?
No, Detox should not be left outside in winter with water in it. It is likely to crack. Instead, drain the unit and store vertically in an ice free environment.
Should the Detox Dechlorinator be flushed before use?
Yes, run the unit until the water is clear and free of dust and carbon particles.
What flow rate should the Detox Dechlorinator be at?
The ideal is four litres per minute or less. Use a measuring jug, and make sure that it takes over 15 seconds to fill one litre. Any more and it is too much.
Can I install a tap / valve after the Dechlorinator or throttle it back, downstream of the unit?
No, installing a tap after the unit is the number one cause of leaks and damaged units. Detox is tested to withstand average mains water pressure, but if a tap / ball valve is installed after the unit, pressure can build inside the unit.
Will the dechlorinator remove Chloramine?
Detox has been designed and tested for removing chlorine only, it will remove other impurities such as chloramine, bromine, malachite green, dyes, colours, humic acids, organics, proteins, antibiotics, hormones and ozone but the levels of removal have not been tested
What should I do when the dechlorinator is not in use?
Store it vertically and allow the water to drain away. Store in the dark to prevent algae growth.
What fittings come with the Detox Dechlorinator?
The Detox comes with hose fittings to attach your Detox to standard hosepipe.
What fittings are required to hard plumb the Detox Dechlorinator?
To hard plumb the Detox you require a ¾" single union female threaded to plain female connector and suitable pipe, we would suggest using some PTFE tape to ensure a water tight seal.
What can I use to mount the Detox Dechlorinator?
We would recommend using our 4" Pipe Clips. They are available to purchase from our parts store: https://evolutionaqua.com/tube-clips
Is there any way to recycle your Detox dechlorinator?
The activated Carbon inside the Evolution Aqua Detox de-chlorinator itself isn't classified as special waste under UK Special Waste Regulations 1996 and can be disposed of by landfill at an approved site or general waste bin. So, the carbon can be disposed of in your general waste bin, and if you wish...
